A few weeks ago my son asked me to make a baby quilt for his best friend. I had a pattern I had picked up last winter and was just waiting to need a baby quilt, so I was happy to help. I made this quilt using the Ellie pattern by Barbara Jones of BJ Designs. I enjoyed making it and loved the finished quilt so much that I contacted the company for permission to make the quilt for sale, but they would not allow it. So the only way you can get this quilt is to make your own.
I showed the quilt to Pat at Cape Cod Quilts and Cottages and she put me on the schedule to teach it, and I made a second Ellie using her fabrics, which we used to put together a kit for the class. Despite Hurricane Jose keeping traffic down at the shop, we had enough people to run the class. The fun thing about this quilt is that even when everyone is given a kit with the same fabrics, they all came out different. Bringing scraps from home made the results even more unique.
I posted on my personal Facebook page when I was looking for people on the cape who might want to take the class, and I had several responses from people in Florida. I will be headed back to Stuart in late October and would be happy to teach this as a class. The project is suitable for a beginner, but the instructions are a bit confusing, so this is best done in a class even for an experienced quilter. Message me if you are interested. I also teach private or small group beginning quilting lessons and have several other projects that I am willing to teach as a class.
